FOREIGN MINISTER AVCI: “TURKISH CYPRIOT SIDE WILL REMAIN AT THE
TABLE”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs
Turgay Avcý stated that despite all the difficulties the Turkish side will
remain at the table.
Speaking on a television program, Foreign Minister Avcý
evaluated both internal and external issues.
Avcý explained that the international community’s
perspective regarding the TRNC has changed when they realized that the TRNC
has a separate parliament, administration and is a developed country.
Noting that although Syria and the Greek Cypriot side
have engaged in important contacts and relations until today, Avcý said the
TRNC and Syria have managed to establish close relations and added that the
relations in the fields of tourism, trade and sports will continue to
strengthen.
Referring to the raising of an Armenian monument in the
Greek Cypriot side, Avcý said this was not the first attempt of the Greek
Cypriots against the Turkish people but despite this the Turkish side will
remain at the table.
