AVCI: “EVERYONE SHOULD WELL EVALUATE ERDOGAN’S STATEMENTS”

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Turgay Avcý speaking in a radio program yesterday stressed that everyone especially the world should well evaluate the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan’s statements about the TRNC. Avcý also underlined the fact that these statement were made just on the eve of 25 July meeting between the two leaders.

Foreign Minister Avcý said that the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his high level accompanying delegation at 20 July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations which coincide with the period when negotiations were continuing was meaningful. Avcý said the massage given to the world was that the Turkish Cypriots were not alone.

Avcý also pointed out that motherland Turkey’s support was very important to show that the Greek Cypriot side could not get every concession form the Turkish side.

Stating that Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan in his statement at the TRNC stressed the existence of two equal founding states, Turkish guarantee and military existence Avcý said these messages were given just before the 25 July meeting between the leaders.

Foreign Minister Avcý reiterating that they have given full support to President Talat during the negotiations said in a possible settlement single sovereignty should base on two equal founding states and political equality and Turkish guarantee should continue.
