FOREIGN MINISTER AVCI HAVING
CONTACTS IN DAMASCUS
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Foreign Affairs Turgay Avci is carrying out various contacts
in the Syrian capital Damascus.
According to a statement issued by the
TRNC Deputy Prime Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Foreign Minister Avcý is holding contacts with high level
Syrian officials.
The statement pointed out that Foreign
Minister Avcý had previously held contacts with high level
Syrian officials during his visit to Syria in August and
following this visit a delegation of Syrian officials
visited the TRNC.
The statement said Avcý’s visit was
directed towards the continuation of the already established
contacts and following the positive developments, which
arouse as a result these contacts.
Foreign Minister Avcý and his
accompanying delegation are expected to return to the
Republic today (17 September).
TURKISH PRESIDENT GUL IS
COMING TO THE TRNC
Turkish President Abdullah Gul will
arrive in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus tomorrow
(18 September) for a two day visit. It will be Gul’s first
visit to a foreign country after being elected as President.
President Gul who is expected to arrive
at 3:00pm in the TRNC, would pay a visit to the tomb of Dr.
Fazil Kucuk, the leader of the existence struggle of the
Turkish Cypriot people, at Anittepe.
The Turkish President will meet with the
TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat and following the meeting
President Gul will receive TRNC Government members at the
TRNC Presidency.
President Gul on Wednesday (19 September)
will first visit the Bogaz Martyrdom and then the Cyprus
Turkish Peace Forces Commandership (KTBK). Gul will also
visit TRNC’s first President Rauf R. Denktas. Later, Gul
will also address the TRNC Parliament, which will convene on
the same day for an extraordinary session. President Talat
will also be present in the Parliament during the session.
