PLUMER:
“GREEK CYPRIOTS HAVE NO SOVEREIGNTY OVER
NORTH
CYPRUS...”
TRNC’s
Abu Dhabi Representative Aytuš Plümer stated that the Greek Cypriots were
damaging the process of reactivating the negotiations between the two
sides in Cyprus under the supervision of the United Nations.
Plümer sent a letter to the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Daily
Khaalej Times in response to an article by the Greek Cypriot ambassador
published in the same newspaper, which criticized the TRNC Minister of
Interior Ozkan Murat’s statements appeared in the press during his visit
to the UAE.
Drawing
attention to the fact that the Greek Cypriot ambassador’s statements had a
threatening attitude against the citizens of the UAE, Plümer stated that
the TRNC government was legitimate and the Greek Cypriot administration
could not exercise sovereignty over Northern Cyprus either by law or in
fact.
Plümer reminded that following the rejection of the UN
settlement plan by the Greek Cypriots, the UN Secretary-General in his
report of 28 May 2004,
called upon the lifting of unjust isolation and embargoes imposed upon the
Turkish Cypriots.
Aytuš Plümer pointed to the fact that the TRNC air and sea
ports were open to the travel of all peoples and that the Greek Cypriots
had already been using these ports in great numbers.
