PRIME MINISTER SOYER: “WE
WILL DO OUR UTMOST TO REACH A SETTLEMENT IN 2008”
Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer
within the framework of his contacts in Brussels met
with EU Commission’s Deputy Director-General for
Enlargement
Jan Truszczynski and Head of the EU’s
Taskforce for the Turkish Cypriot community Andrew
Rashbash.

Yalcin Vehit, CTP-BG MP and President Talat’s Special
Representative for contacts with the UN and the EU Ozdil
Nami, Prime Ministry Advisor Yonca Senyigit, Head of
Prime Ministry’s EU Coordination Center Erhan Ercin and
Presidential EU Advisor Armagan Candan were also present
at the meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Prime
Minister Soyer stated that during the meeting he
reiterated that no progress have been achieved in the
solution of the Cyprus problem.
Soyer said he pointed out that the
Turkish Cypriot side would do its utmost for reaching a
settlement in 2008 and that the support of the UN and
the EU was necessary to achieve this.
Prime Minister also stressed that the
Turkish Cypriot side’s EU goal was still continuing and
that it desires to start the EU harmonization studies.
