AVCI EVALUATES HIS CONTACTS IN SYRIA
AVCI: “WE MADE VERY FRUITFUL CONTACTS”
Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Foreign Affairs Turgay Avcý evaluating his contacts
in Syria stated that they carried out fruitful contacts with
regard to the openings to be made between the TRNC and Syria.
Speaking upon his arrival to
the TRNC after his two-day visit to Syria, Foreign Minister Avcý
said he hoped to receive the positive outcomes of his contacts
in the forthcoming days.
Pointing out that Syria has a
strategic importance in the Eastern Mediterranean basin in terms
of preserving economic development, peace and stability, Avcý
said: “We are determined to improve our relations with Syria to
the highest point”.
Explaining that they visited
Syria within the framework of the visits started to the OIC (Organization
of Islamic Conference) countries with the aim of opening the
TRNC to the world, Avcý stated that during his meetings with
high-level authorities in Syria, they were warmly welcomed.
Reiterating that Syria was one
of the most important countries in the Eastern Mediterranean,
Avcý said there were historical ties with ‘brother country’
Syria.
Avcý said they also visited
the tomb of the Former Syrian Head of State Hafýz Esat in Syria.
