STUDIES ON MISSING PERSONS...
NAMES OF 6 IDENTIFIED MISSING PERSONS ANNOUNCED
Following the analyses on the remains of missing persons
exhumed during the excavations made on both Turkish and Greek
Cypriot sides, names of 6 Turkish Cypriot missing persons,
whose identities have been identified, were announced.
Chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Martyrs’ Families and War
Veterans Ertan Ersan stated that the names of 6 Turkish
Cypriot missing persons who were massacred by the Greek
Cypriots in Protara region in 1964 are; Hüdaverdi Yusuf Osman,
Ahmet Mustafa Meddi, Hasan Ziya, Mustafa Hasan, Hüseyin Ahmet
Þükrü and Hasan Ertuðrul Veli.
In a written statement, Ersan pointed out that DNA tests on
the remains of 6 Turkish Cypriot missing persons were made and
the remains would be handed over to their families and be
buried by mid-August.
CIGARETTE SMUGGLING FROM KARADAG TO SOUTH CYPRUS
Greek Cypriot daily ALITHIA reported that between 1997 and
2000 cigarettes worth of 500 million Euros had been illegally
brought from Montenegro to South Cyprus and the illegal
earnings had been laundered through banks in South Cyprus and
Switzerland.
ALITHIA pointed out that Italian Attorney-General’s Office has
taken a legal action against 8 persons on the issue.
ALITHIA also noted that according to the news published by
Belgrade daily ‘Glas’ amongst the list of names who brought
illegal money to South Cyprus there are Nikolai Milosevic,
Dusko and Milan Rankovic, Zoran Djatsis and Yovitsa Ranielovic.
