TURKISH CYPRIOT MPS VISIT
LIMASSOL
TURKISH SHOOL MUST BE OPEN… HOWEVER, EDUCATION IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM
7 MPs representing the
three political parties having seats in the TRNC parliament, yesterday (29
December) visited Turkish Cypriots living in Limassol, South Cyprus and
made investigations regarding the opening of a Turkish Primary school and
listened to their problems.
Parliamentarian delegation
consisting of Republican Turkish Party United Forces (CTP-BG) MPs Mehmet
Ceylanlı, Ahmet Barçın, Kadri Fellahoğlu, Mustafa Yektaoğlu, Ramadan
Gilanlıoğlu, Democrat Party (DP) MP Mehmet Tancer, National Unity Party (UBP)
MP Nazım Çavuşoğlu was accompanied by Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education
Teachers Union (KTOEÖS) Chairman Adnan Eraslan and Presidential Special
Secretary Asım Akansoy.
Turkish Cypriots living in
Limassol pointed out that, opening of a primary school was not enough to
solve their problems because there would be a problem of transportation
for these children.
A Turkish Cypriot living in
Limassol for four and a half years, stating that opening of a primary
school in Limassol was inevitable, underlined that the school must have
the same status with the one in Dipkarpaz and that they expected support
from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on this issue.
Besides education, there
are also other problems of Turkish Cypriots, who have low socio-economic
standart of life in Limassol, and they expect help from the Turkish
Cypriot MPs for the solution of their problems.
