CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OPENING
REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE IN BRUSSELS
Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer will
leave for Brussels today (19 September) to official open the new
representative office of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.
Some NGO representatives will also be
attending the ceremony.
Within the framework of his contacts in
Brussels, on 20 September Prime Minister Soyer will attend a round table
meeting organized by the Ari Movement at the European Policy Centre. Later
in the evening the Prime Minister will attend a dinner that will be given
in his honour by Turkey's permanent representative to the EU, Ambassador
Oguz Demiralp.

EXPECTED TO MAKE IMPORTANT STATEMENT ON CYPRUS ISSUE NEXT WEEK
Attending the UN's 60th Term
General Assembly studies, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister Abdullah Gul stated that he had met with the UN Secretary-General
Kofi Annan who would be taking some very important steps on the Cyprus
issue.
Asked if Annan was willing to engage in
a new initiative or not on the Cyprus issue, Minister Gul replied,
"Because Annan has put in a lot of effort into this process he is closely
following this process and will issue some statements regarding the work
that he intends to do".
