NEW TRNC GOVERNMENT CTP-BG-DP COALITION

Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG) Leader, Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat, who was given the duty of forming the new "provisional" government last Friday (March 1) by President Denktas, yesterday (March 8) submitted the list of the new CTP-BG-DP coalition government to President Denktas, who after approving it passed it on for approval to the TRNC Council of Ministers.

The list that was presented to President Denktas foresees the continuation of the former government, which has been in power since January 2004, and there are no changes in either the ministries or the cabinet. According to the agreement reached between the CTP-BG and the DP, the formation of the new government will be announced after the April 17 presidential elections together with the name of the new Prime Minister.

The distribution of the ministries in the new CTP-BG-DP coalition government, which will begin its new duties after the forthcoming presidential elections, will be seven ministries for the CTP-BG and three for the DP. The existing government will continue to function until the April 17 presidential elections.

The new CTP-BG-DP coalition government, which was yesterday (March 8) approved by President Denktas, will be the 19th government since the proclamation of the Cyprus Turkish Federated State.
