PRESIDENT TALAT EVALUATED NEW
PROPERTY LAW "AIM IS TO FORM AN INTERNAL LAW PROCEDURE"
President Talat stressing that the basic aim
of the new property law was to form an internal law procedure for the
Greek Cypriot property applications said: "Property issue, will be solved
together with a political settlement."
Speaking to Anatolian News
Agency on the recent property law, envisaging compensation, exchange and
reinstatement of Greek Cypriot properties stated that the he was the first
person to propose Turkey the preparation of this law in July 2004.
Talat pointed out that this
law was prepared in conformity with the settlement parameters of the
Cyprus issue.
Stating that the acceptance
of this law as an internal law was not possible in one day, said this law
could only has an indirect effect on the Iksenides Aretis case which would
be finalized today (22 December 2005).

KILOMETERS MILITARY ZONE ON THE SHORES REDUCED TO 35 KILOMETERS
TRNC Council of Ministers
decided to reduce the 210kms military zone on the shores to 35kms.
Minister of Economy and
Tourism Derviş Kemal Deniz, speaking to the press following the council of
ministers meeting, headed by Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer, at the
parliament, pointed out that the military zone on the shores, was reduced
form 210kms to 35kms for the maximum use of sea for civilian purposes.
Deniz added that the basic
reasons behind this decision was to create better opportunities for the
fishing and to ease the activities for developing tourism. Deniz pointed
out that within this framework, Costal Security Commandership of Security
Forces would inform the fisherman in detail about the issue and the
Ministry of Agriculture would also organize a meeting with the fisherman
and inform them about the benefits of this new decision

Spokesman stated that according to this new regulation, Erenköy, Varosa, a
small region on the East of Yeşilırmak, Yılan Adası and Teknecik would
remain within the Military Zone.
