TURKISH CYPRIOT
SIDE’S PROPOSALS WERE PRESENTED IN A WRITTEN FORM TO UN
According to information
received from the TRNC Presidency, the Turkish Cypriot side’s proposals
for changes, were presented to the Peace Forces yesterday at 18:00 in order
to be conveyed to the UN officials.
Speaking during the meeting
with the muhktars from the Mesaria region yesterday, President Denktas had
said that TRNC would submit to the UN and the Greek Cypriot side the list of
proposals for changes on the Annan plan.
President Denktas said that
in the event of the acceptance of the important aspects of these changes,
the path for an agreement would be opened.
Stressing that all the
efforts are being spent jointly with Turkey in order to reach a result until
February 28, President Denktas said that "if we cannot reach a result,
we should protect our state in order to gain another opportunity to reach a
result. February 28, will not be the end of the world."
YAKIS:
"ANYTHING WHICH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BY TRNC, WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BY
TURKEY AS WELL"
Following the completion of
his official visit to the TRNC, the Turkish Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis who
returned to Turkey, in his speech at the Esenboga Airport, said that
"the Foreign Ministers traditionally pay their first visits to the TRNC.
I did so."
Underlining that during his
contacts in the TRNC, they had exchanged views on the Cyprus negotiations,
Yakis stressed that "Anything which will not be accepted by the TRNC,
will not be accepted by Turkey". Yakis also expressed strong support of
Turkey to the TRNC on the negotiations with the Greek Cypriot side.
THE COMMANDER OF
THE TURKISH LAND FORCES DEPARTS FROM TRNC
The Commander of the Turkish
Land Forces, Aytac Yalman, and his accompanying delegation who arrived in
the TRNC the previous day for inspection of military units and contacts with
the TRNC government officials, following the completion of their contacts
departed from the TRNC yesterday.
Speaking at the Gecitkale
Airport, Yalman referring to his inspection of military units, said that the
military units are modernly equipped and that with its high morale and high
education level set a good example giving security to them. Yalman also
thanked the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces and all the
military authorities.
Pointing out that he found
the opportunity to meet with the TRNC President Rauf Denktas and other
authorities, Yalman said that they reiterated their trust and determination
to each other on the national cause.
For his part, the TRNC Prime
Minister Dervis Eroglu expressed his pleasure on hearing the messages given
during the visit of Yalman and said that at the point reached, the
appearance of the document, created some discomforts within the community.
Eroglu added that these statements are pleasing and easing the community.
TURKEY-TRNC
COOPERATION AGREEMENTS ARE IN FORCE
Two cooperation agreements
signed between Turkey and TRNC, were put into force after being published at
the official gazette.
-Law Approving the
Cooperation in the field of Air Research and Rescue between the governments
of Turkey and the TRNC
-Law Approving the
Cooperation in the field of Coastal Security between the governments of
Turkey and the TRNC
