According to the statement issued
by Turkish Union Cultural Center, TRNC President Rauf
Denktaş will receive “Award for Serving Turkish
World” by Elçibey Foundation in Azerbaijan on June
24, 2002, at the birthday of Ebulfeyz Elçibey.
The statement also referred to the
views of Erhan Arıklı, the President of Turk-Bir,
who participated in the last meeting of Elçibey
Foundation, consisting of about 100 political parties
and non-governmental organisations.
Pointing out that the award that
will be bestowed on President Denktaş at a time when
the direct talks are continuing, has a great meaning
and value, Arıklı said this award means support to
President Denktaş and will give morale to Turkish
Cypriot people.
DIRECT TALKS CONTINUES
TODAY
TRNC President Rauf Denktaş and
the leader of the Greek Cypriot administartion Glafcos
Clerides will meet again today within the framework of
the face-to-face negotiations aimed at finding a
lasting and just solution to the Cyprus issue which
started on January 16, 2002.
According to information received
from the TRNC Presidency, today’s meeting will start
at 17:00 at the Lefkoşa Conference Centre in the
Buffer Zone.
